ordinary things

I dabble in photography. My favorite subjects are pretty ordinary. I have always figured anyone can take a picture of a beautiful thing and its a beautiful picture. I feel my talent (if you can call it that) is trying to show the beauty in things that people would normally pass right by. I want people to see the beauty that I see everywhere, from a building being demolished to a great sunset. I can't help but notice what an awesome world God has made.
I also love fresh snow. Even though the excitement should have worn off long ago, I'm a kid again when I wake up in the morning and see it has snowed. There are no snow days anymore, more often than not, snow just brings the hassle of driving and cleaning off your car now. But I still love it. I think because for the short time before the sun begins to melt things off, all the ordinary is beautiful. How can you not see it? The trees all have the wonderful contrast of white snow on dark bare branches, snow covered roofs, and white everywhere. It's as if everytime it snows God is showing how beautiful the ordinary can become and I just have to stop and praise him.
