Dancin' with myself
So, about a month ago Haircut (aka Erin to some people) and I went on an evening stroll through German Village which we like to do from time to time. After about 30 minutes of walking we passed by a popular little German Village restaurant called The Mohawk. Good food. Great atmosphere. Small brick building, red and white awning, glass storefront.
As we passed I noticed a few elderly couples sitting at the windows enjoying their dinner. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I noticed our friends Shaun and Carolee having dinner with another couple. I took a few steps back in front of the restaurant into the lighting, glanced in the window, and confirmed it was indeed them. Just about that time Haircut looked at me and said,
"There's something on your right shoulder."
"Where? What is it?"
"Uhhh. Uhhhh, it's a spider."
"Well... get it!"
While she carefully approached me I caught a glance of the spider in question. I'd like to just say for the record that this was no spider. A small pitbull with eight legs is a more accurate description. I can only assume it dropped on my shoulder while walking under a tree in German Village but that isn't exactly what was going through my mind at that time. Haircut took a swipe at the spider with a stick, and missed.
Not good.
She quickly took another swing and knocked it off my shoulder. Phew. I looked down to find where the spider had landed on the ground so I could formally introduce my left shoe to him. Instead, I looked down and found that he had cleverly landed on the leg of my shorts.
Not good.
At this point my mind went into survival mode... or maybe just stupid mode. Instead of taking another swat to remove it I decided I could shake it off my leg and i did this by going into the most ridiculous high-step gyrating dance in the history of dance. Now, I would loooove to tell you that no one saw this dance other than Haircut... but that would be a lie because I was still standing in front of the window by the Mohawk. So, a handful of elderly men, women, and their waiter watched me perform, what has now been dubbed, "The Spider Dance." We've had a good laugh ever since.
This is just a reminder to stop and laugh at youself, your mistakes, and at life every now and then.
